Palma Airport (PMI) in Mallorca - Airport facilities and servicing airlines.
Palma Airport (PMI) is located on the outskirts of Palma city (the capital of Mallorca).
Recently expanded and refurbished, it offers a great selection of shops, restaurants and bars.
There is also a good selection of duty free shops and boutiques both land-side and air-side.
Arriving at Palma de Mallorca (PMI) Airport
When you arrive at Palma airport you will either be on the ground floor (the same as the baggage claim and exit), or the first floor if you disembark via an airbridge. There are clear signs to guide you to the baggage claim, or exit (if hand luggage only).
The length of your walk from the arrival gate to the baggage claim (and/or exit) will depend on your gate number (gates D can be a fairly long walk). There are facilities for passengers who may need assistance in getting around the airport, such as wheelchairs and electric cars (always notify your flight operator if you will need assistance).
There are monitors indicating which baggage carousel is currently assigned to which flights. Palma airport operates a no-smoking policy throughout the airport.
Departing from Palma de Mallorca (PMI) Airport
The check-in area is on the second floor of the airport building, there are monitor screens indicating which check-in desk is assigned to each flight.
There are two security checkpoints as you enter the departure floor, one on the far left and one on the far right. Current security protocol requires you to remove all metallic objects, including your watch and belt, and place them into a plastic tray. If you are travelling with a laptop, you must remove it from the laptop carrycase and put it through the security scanner separately.
Once air-side you will find bars, fast food, restaurants and duty free shopping. There is also a newsagent which sells books and newspapers in English.
There are four boarding gate modules, A, B, C and D, follow the numerous signs within the terminal to your designated boarding gate. Your gate number will depend on the airline you are flying with, for example, Air Berlin flights usually board and disembark in Module D.
